Today a field trip to do some brush clearing at Dokum Mskoda was cancelled due to inclement weather and rescheduled for next Thursday. The interns did, however, still have a "lunch and learn" where sustainable landscapes coordinator Cyndi provided us with some details about clearing Buckthorn. She also gave us an overview of some outdoor conservation projects and restoration work. Among the topics covered was the threat invasive species pose and the importance of native plants. We learned to think about sites not just in terms of their present conditions, but to also consider the natural history behind the land and the potential for the future. We've also been hard at work on our respective projects, taking the occasional break to put together signs for Conservation@Home.
